Experienced Deputy Nursery Manager needed asap

Responsibilities:
[A] Basic Objectives
1. To assist the Nursery Manager and in their absence to undertake full responsibility for the operation of the nursery setting for children aged 2-5 years old.
2. To promote the well being of the children attending the nursery and ensure all children’s needs are recognised, included and met.
3. To provide a secure and stimulating environment incorporating high standards of care, play and educational opportunities for the children recognising their individual needs, partnership with their families and celebrating the diversity of their wider community.
4. To take the lead role in planning, monitoring, recording and evaluating EYFS
5. To ensure that the training needs of the staff team are identified and met accordingly.
6. To support parental involvement in all aspects of the nursery

[B] Duties
Under the guidance of the Nursery Manager and in line with the Council of Management Policy and the requirements of Ofsted:

7. To deputise for the Manager and undertake the full responsibility for that post when required.
8. To participate in all the daily activities of the nursery, including personal care of the children.
9. To adopt the role of key worker for a small group of children.
10. To work in partnership with parents involving and informing them on the progress of their child.
11. To participate in parent consultations and coffee mornings.
12. To participate in appropriate staff meetings, training and supervision sessions.
13. To take the lead on staff’s Continuous Professional Development, by assessing training needs for individuals and the team.
14. To liaise with other external agencies as appropriate.
15. The post holder will be expected to undertake such general duties as may be necessary from time to time to ensure the smooth running of the nursery.


Personal Specification
I. Professional training to a minimum NVQ level 3 or equivalent, relevant to the well being and needs of young children.
II. A minimum of 3 years experience working with under 5’s within an Ofsted registered provision.
III. Knowledge of EYFS curriculum and experience of working within guidelines of Birth to Three Matters and Foundation Stage Curriculum.
IV. Demonstrable good attendance record at work over the last two years.
V. Sound organisational skills and the ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with children, staff, parents and other external agencies
VI. A sound knowledge of developmental stages and an understanding of the value of play.
VII. Ability to be positive and professional in dealing with other staff team members, children and parents.
VIII. To have a commitment to involve parents in the nursery life and their child’s learning.
IX. Knowledge of what constitutes a healthy and safe environment for the under 5’s.
X. An ability to be a flexible, enthusiastic team member who can take the initiative to lead when required.
XI. Basic IT skills
